I decided to look for a hvac company in NYC when September rolled around because I knew my heating unit wasn’t likely to make it through another harsh New York winter. I have a newborn child so having the heat go out in the middle of a cold snap or a blizzard simply couldn’t happen. We don’t know anyone in the city, either, so trying to impose ourselves on co-workers or a neighbor while the heater got fixed wasn’t an option. I wanted to make sure all my ducks were in a row, so to speak, and just decided to replace the unit.
I thought I could do it myself, but online searches quickly revealed that wasn’t going to work. While I’m pretty handy with appliances and electrical stuff, getting a heavy unit into the place and installing it wasn’t going to work. Moreover, there are many requirements and building codes that need to be followed and I didn’t know anything about them. I needed to find a professional company with qualified installers who knew all the ins and outs so I wouldn’t run into trouble with a city inspector for a code violation.
The company I went with has extensive experience in all things hvac. They service pretty much the entire city and a large part of Jersey, so they’ve had more than enough experience wrestling a heavy heater through the city, up flights of stairs, and into rooms and buildings. I was impressed they got here as quickly as they did and in no time at all they got the old one out and into the truck and the new one hooked up according to all the building codes. Once we turned it on it quickly became apparent that the old unit wasn’t in the best shape because this one pumped pure heat into the room very quickly!
